Storr Lochs Hydro Commissioned… Again!

Storr Lochs on the Isle of Skye has been the location of a hydropower scheme since the 1950s.
Well, last week a wee brother appeared on the scene, this one on a pair of feeder burns above the loch.
The hydro has been in the construction phase for a year or so, in part due to the length of time it took to get the grid connection works done (not complex) and a meter fitted (the old "oh its 3 phase, not single phase, I only brought a single phase meter" from Ovo...!).
However, it's in and it's running – a tribute to the site owner and his knowledge of the land that the wee spring fed burns were able to produce 25% power on a day when many of the burns on the West Coast were looking fairly parched.
This is the second hydro that we have installed for the owner and if it works as well as the first one we installed in 2016, then he'll be able to retire twice!
